Recently, to improve its ability to respond to and deal with typhoons, Southern Power Grid conducted a drill on the emergency handling of broken conductor incidents at the Zhuhai 220kV Guozhu A and B lines. Far East Communication provided comprehensive emergency communication support for this drill with equipment including portable command boxes, LTE broadband backpack systems, and LTE broadband handheld terminals.

This drill simulated a scenario where, after Typhoon Mangkhut made landfall, power supply channels were severely damaged, causing widespread power outages. Southern Power Grid needed to immediately organize disaster investigation and power restoration work, but public network signals were interrupted, creating an urgent need for emergency communication support. In this scenario, the emergency communication equipment provided by Far East Communication was rapidly deployed and provided full coverage, establishing an emergency command and communication system covering the rear command center, front command post, and emergency site, ensuring that the entire exercise was 'visible, audible, commandable, and collaborative'.

At the disaster emergency site
At the disaster emergency site, the Far East Communication LTE broadband backpack system can achieve rapid broadband wireless coverage in forests, mountainous areas, and wilderness when public network signals are interrupted. It transmits the 'disaster investigation' site conditions collected by the LTE broadband handheld terminal to the front command post in a timely manner, meeting the real-time audio and video communication needs between various emergency response points along the damaged lines and the front command post, Zhuhai Bureau emergency command center, and the provincial power grid company's emergency command center.

At the front command post, the Far East Communication portable command box serves as a communication hub, enabling centralized command and dispatch of various images, voice, and data from the drill site. Through the satellite communication network and LTE broadband wireless communication network, it achieves interconnectivity between the disaster site, the front command post, and the rear command center.

  At the rear command center   
At the rear command center, the Far East Communication emergency communication command platform can directly visualize the emergency drill site, conduct comprehensive situational monitoring, on-map command and dispatch, and emergency response assessment, providing strong support for the participating command leaders in resource allocation and decision-making.

In this drill, Far East Communication successfully completed the on-site emergency communication support work and received unanimous recognition from the Guangdong Provincial Power Grid Company and the Zhuhai Power Supply Bureau. Since 2016, Far East Communication has built provincial and grid-level emergency communication command platforms, public network trunking communication systems, VSAT satellite communication systems, and multiple emergency command vehicles and other power emergency communication systems and equipment for Southern Power Grid. These systems played an important role in emergency communication support during super typhoon Mangkhut and power supply assurance for the Boao Forum for Asia.
